The next meeting of the LOC Book Club will be on Sunday, January 13th following the 9:00 am service in the Center of Compassion. We will be discussing The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan.
Anthony Peardew is the keeper of lost things. Forty years ago, he carelessly lost a keepsake from his beloved fiancée, Therese. That very same day she died unexpectedly. Brokenhearted, Anthony sought consolation in rescuing lost objects---the things others have dropped, misplaced, or accidentally left behind---and wrote stories about them. As Anthony nears the end of his life, he worries that he has not been able to reconcile all the lost things with their owners. He bequeaths his secret life's mission to his unsuspecting assistant, Laura, and leaves her his house and all its lost treasures. Laura is recovering from a bad divorce and doesn't think this could possibly be the best use of her time, but she sets out to realize Anthony's last wish.
This is Ms. Hogan's debut novel which reveals endless possibilities and joyful discoveries that explores the promises we make and break, losing and finding ourselves, the objects that hold magic and meaning for our lives, and the surprising connections that bind us.
Please join us, coffee in hand, as we discover how The Keeper of Lost Things has impacted our lives. Everyone is welcome! The Book Nook will do its best to secure several copies for sale. If you have any questions, please contact either Barbara Hummel at or Penny Day at .
