The next meeting of the LOC Book Club will be Sunday, April 11th in the church Fellowship Hall after the 9:00 am service.  We practice social distancing, use masks and hand sanitizer.  You must use Sign Up Genius to attend.

We will be reading The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah.  Here is a synopsis:

Set during the Great Depression, the book introduces us to Elsa Wolcott Martinelli.  Millions are out of work and the drought has devastated the Great Plains.  Farmers are fighting to keep their land and their livelihoods as crops fail and water dries up and the earth cracks open.  Everything on the Martinelli farm is dying, including Elsa's marriage.  Each day is a desperate battle against nature and a fight to keep her children alive.  Elsa must make a choice to fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go to California.  In a time of horrible hardship, this is a story worth telling, from a female point of view.  A testament to hope, resilience and the human spirit to survive.

We welcome your interest in the Book Club by attending in person if you are able or by reading our selections at your leisure.
